Your gateway to
the Cardano ecosystem.
Lace is a lightweight, self-custodial wallet that puts your Cardano assets right in your browser. Whether you’re new to digital assets or a seasoned ada holder, this guide will help you get set up and explore with confidence.
Lace will never ask for your seed phrase or private keys. Download only from the official browser store or Lace website, and always double-check URLs.
Made for Cardano.
Designed for you.
Lace is built by Input Output Global (IOG), the team behind Cardano’s core research and development. It pairs strong security with a welcoming experience — and goes beyond storage to bring dApps, NFTs, and staking together in one place.
Connect to dApps in a click, review clear transaction previews, and manage multiple accounts without switching tools. Lace is available for Chrome, Brave, Edge, and other Chromium-based browsers.
Install in three steps.
Make sure your browser is up to date. Lace works with Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave, and other Chromium browsers on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Visit the official store
Go to the Chrome Web Store or official Lace website. Search “Lace Wallet” and verify the developer is Input Output Global.
Add to your browser
Click “Add to Chrome” (or equivalent) and review the permissions before confirming.
Pin Lace for quick access
Open your browser’s puzzle icon and select the pin beside Lace to keep it in your toolbar.
Create your first wallet.
Open Lace and choose Create new wallet. Set a strong password. It encrypts your wallet data locally on your device and is never sent to a server.
Next, Lace will generate a 24-word recovery phrase — the master key to your funds. Write it on paper, store it somewhere safe, and never share or store it digitally. Anyone with this phrase can access your wallet. Lace will ask you to confirm the words in order.
Once confirmed, your wallet is ready. You’ll see a Cardano address beginning with addr1..., ready to receive ada, tokens, and NFTs.
Lace cannot recover it for you. Never take a screenshot, enter it on a website, or share it with anyone — including someone claiming to be support.
Already have a wallet?
Choose Restore wallet and enter your 24-word recovery phrase. Lace supports standard Cardano derivation paths. Your funds and staking history may take a few minutes to appear while the wallet scans the blockchain.
Your wallet at a glance.
The dashboard shows your balance in ada and your preferred fiat currency, with your assets listed below. Use the menu to find:
When you visit a Cardano dApp, Lace asks permission before connecting. Review what the dApp is requesting before you approve.
Receive and send with care.
Tap Receive to see your QR code and address. Copy it or share the QR code. Before sending from an exchange, check the first and last few characters of the address.
Tap Send, enter the recipient and amount, then review the summary. Lace shows the estimated fee and total. Confirm with your password to submit.
Transactions usually confirm within seconds to a few minutes. Fees vary with network conditions. Cardano transactions are irreversible, so take your time reviewing the details.
For a new address or a large transfer, send a small test transaction first.
Put your ada to work.
Delegating ada helps secure the Cardano network and may earn rewards. In the Staking tab, browse pools and compare their size, fees, and performance before choosing one.
Delegation doesn’t transfer custody of your funds. There is no lock-up period, and you can change pools later.
Rewards are distributed every epoch (five days). Track your accumulated rewards in the dashboard. Reward rates vary and are not guaranteed.
Security is a habit.
Lace is a hot wallet, meaning it’s connected to the internet. Follow these practices to help protect your assets:
- ✓Keep your recovery phrase private. No legitimate service will ask you to share it.
- ✓Consider a hardware wallet.Lace supports Ledger and Trezor for added security.
- ✓Keep your browser and extension updated.Updates often include important security fixes.
- ✓Watch for fake sites and ads.Use a saved bookmark or type the address yourself.
- ✓Disconnect dApps you’re not using.Manage connections in Settings → Connected Apps.
Watch-only mode lets you track addresses without exposing private keys — handy for monitoring cold storage or a hardware wallet.
Room to explore.
Create multiple accounts in one wallet, each with its own address and assets — useful for separating savings, spending, and NFT activity. Switch between accounts in a click.
Advanced users can manage collateral for Plutus smart contracts and inspect UTxOs (unspent transaction outputs). Lace continues to evolve, with features and roadmap updates published by the team.
